ANXIETY-the secret voice of fear!
It was dark and cozy, late about 11pm
Lisa and I had just watched a scary movie
We were both scared to our bones, but..
I wanted to be the man so I had to man up
Being a man is not easy so I get it now
The night was freezing and I was shivering
But I couldn't tell if it was the cold or fear
If I had flipped, it would feel like am feeble
Faced with such a challenge, I felt like fading
Fake smiles of confidence, I was only forming
I pretended it was definitely the cold not fear
I haven't been in such a situation before
A situation I had to coat fear with bravery
Oh! How much of a deep shit am I into?
I shouldn't have watched this movie, at least, not this late.
I have a phobia for spirit movies
Disappearing and appearing scares me too well
I told Lisa it was a bad idea but she didn't listen. listening to my heart beat, it sounded like it was gonna jump out of its chambers
Holding Lisa's hand like I was her bodyguard
But in the real sense she was my bodyguard
I know I am not brave heart,
but even brave heart will chicken out.
How long will I hold up before I hear funny sounds in the ceiling and freak out?
All the while I was thinking and acting strong,
I never knew Lisa had noticed my obvious fright
She tapped me on the chest and said,
"it's okay to be a man, but it's not okay to fake fright.
Then she started her pep talk,
Fear and anxiety can happen to anyone
It's no respecter of age, gender or status
Infact, the state of the human mind is set by default to fear and to be frightened..
It is okay to be scared of something
But what's not okay, is to pretend to be brave
And when trouble comes, you flee like a coward
