The flame that is alight
how brightly it does burn
as day slips into night
and soul alike does yearn.

As moonbeams fill the shade
glowing and defined,
the light will slowly fade,
the stars will gently shine.

And as I view my yield,
the fruit that I have grown,
how sorrowful I feel,
how woefully alone.

But I shall not tame
the fire inside my soul.
I shall watch the flames
burning uncontrolled.

Then the waves will whirl
upon the sleeping shore,
delivering a pearl
from the night before.

Sinking down in silken sand,
the sun will soothe my soul.
As the new day takes my hand,
a wild horse and foal

winding down the golden shore,
move as easy, calm and slow
as the flitting in my core
of a gentle bonfire glow.
