Backstory
There’s a fascinating theory that is gaining more credibility. Some scientists now believe that we can inherit memories from our ancestors through our DNA. It’s a beautiful thought, really. No life, however insignificant, was ever lived in vain.
This could explain some mysteries about humanity. Among them…savants, who can are virtuosos without ever having taken a lesson -- deja-vu, a distinct feeling that we've been in a certain situation or location before despite absolute certainty that this wasn't the case -- even addiction or nondescript darkness we can’t seem to escape from.
When I wrote this piece I thought about genetic memory in a different way. What about the legacy that we pass on through our DNA to offspring? If this theory holds weight the way we live our lives can influence countless generations to come, on a genetic level. This is yet another reason to live a conscious existence, to do all we can to become the best version of ourselves.

Every line in this poem is a food for thought and with deep meaning too.
I guess this has to come to the realization of many. We aren't living our lives just for ourselves. We are interconnected and no matter how little our action has, there's an effect it pulls on another soul.

A very nice poem @ericvancewalton, I really like the poetry, I also often write poetry in my article. In my opinion, the poem has many benefits for us, a poem can also be a motivational word in our lives. And when we are stressed, and have many problems in our lives, with we hear poetry combined with music, surely our souls feel calm.
To be able to write a good poem is indeed very difficult, because we must string words that can enter into the soul of people who read it. Therefore I am still learning to produce a good poem. Thanks for sharing, and wish you a wonderful day... :)

Scientists are always about logic and if they say we can inherit the momories of our ancestors, i would believe them since i still dont know science behind de javu.

By being our best, every single person who contributed to who we are, we are doing them a great show of appreciation for their investment. A life well lived is what we should strive for. Being better than who we are yesterday should always be our driving force. We should learn to always face our fears.

Interesting theme. Genetic memory! it's possible. In fact I sometimes think that family stories are repeated for some reason. If that were true, it is justified every day more to improve ourselves, to be better people and with a better interrelation with our environment. We could be influencing without knowing it in the life of our next generations.
First off, a wonderful poem you've written! I also read about the memories being handed down through DNA, and it's an amazing thing to consider. Your theory on the savants and how this could well be, at least partly, related is something I had not considered yet. It makes perfect sense! We should be aware of how we live our lives in view of this, as I personally believe this is actually happening. Cheers!

Beautiful poem @ericvancewalton! I do believe the scientists are right about genetic memories; we see physical traits being replicated, mannerisms and gait comes out so why not memories? A beautiful thought to think we could help the next generation by living consciously to become the best version of ourselves. Thank you!

Now scientists has discovered that we can inherit our ancestors memory through DNA and that is why we should be our best and make a good memory, do the best thing so when they remember us, it should be our good deeds not the bad ones
