half-afraid that idleness,
it has finally gotten
the better of me.
gentle as a whisper,
brushes my face,
pulling me back
to the perfect miracle
of stillness.

no to-do lists unravel,
just the hush
of golden light
pooling across my lap,
a warmth that needs
no purpose,
no permission.
there’s no better
place to be
than this warm
place in the sun,
where time
drifts along lazily
like a leaf on the wind
and I am free to simply be.
Be well and make the most of this day.

Poetry should move us, it should change us, it should glitch our brains, shift our moods to another frequency. Poetry should evoke feelings of melancholy, whimsy, it should remind us what it feels like to be in love, or cause us to think about something in a completely different way. I view poetry, and all art really, as a temporary and fragile bridge between our world and a more pure and refined one. This is a world we could bring into creation if enough of us believed in it. This book is ephemera, destined to end up forgotten, lingering on some dusty shelf or tucked away in a dark attic. Yet the words, they will live on in memory. I hope these words become a part of you, bubble up into your memory when you least expect them to and make you feel a little more alive.

Most of us have experienced a moment of perfect peace at least once in our lives. In these moments we lose ourselves and feel connected to everything. I call these mindful moments. Words can’t describe how complete they make us feel.
These moments are usually fragile, evaporating in seconds. What if there was a way to train your mind to experience more of them? It’s deceptively easy and requires nothing more than a subtle shift in mindset. My new book, Mindful Moments, will teach you to be much more content despite the chaos and imperfect circumstances continuing to unfold around you. I love your poem. I was imaging sitting with the sun coming across me and it made me think about going outside. It is a sunny day, but quite breezy and 57. The breeze would make it feel less warm than that though. Still, maybe in a couple of hours when it will be as warm as the day will get, I'll have to go out and feel the sun across my face.
I don't believe time is being wasted when we stop and just feel.
Thank you. It's getting around that time of the year here too. We're supposed to hit 56 degrees today but were hit with almost a foot of snow just less than a week ago.
I like your poem.
Every morning when I work in the yard you can find me sitting in a sunspot, I move with the sun.
Thanks! Sunshine is definitely healing in small doses.
When my wife and I go camping, she often goes inside the trailer in the middle of the day and takes a nap. I on the other hand lay out under the awning or out in the sun at our campsite and doze in and out of sleep. This poem makes me think of that.
Camping sounds like heaven right now. We caught this video last night by one of our favorite YouTubers and it's got us in the camping mood.
There's absolutely no way I'd spend that much on a camper though.
That price is just nuts! I mean it's cool that you can go anywhere pretty much, but man the price... I also feel like it is too small. My wife and I get along better than a lot of couples I think, but even we need our own space sometimes. You can't always know when the rain is going to come or the conditions aren't going to allow you to be outside and having a couple separate spaces you can exist in apart from each other is important.
You aren't kidding! This is so out of reach for 99.9% of people. Hopefully some of the tech trickles down into less expensive campers.
That would be cool for sure.
There is a poetic quality that denotes his experience and quality in this type of composition. But, it is accompanied by a way of writing about the sun that demonstrates what the king of the sun means to you.
I just remembered a comment you made about not having experience in home heating and you replied that you could say the same.
This reminded me of how important the sun must be to you.
Happy Sunday.
Cheers and best regards.
It's very difficult when you're this far away from the equator. Even if the sun is out it feels so far away here in Minnesota from Nov-Feb. I think it's the way the Earth tilts on its axis during that season. This time of the year the sunshine starts to feel warm again, even if the air temperature is still cool. Thanks and happy Sunday to you my friend!
Oh man what a poem 🥹 That feeling of just existing in the sun, no deadlines, no stress, that's just pure peace. This is actually making me wanna drop everything and go sit outside. I'll shower and do that while the sun is still up. But knowing my luck, a mosquito would ruin it, definitely 🤦🤦🤦
So glad you enjoyed it!
absolutely enjoyed it... Thanks to Hive I get to talk to great artists like you. It's deeply an honor man
I think we should leave ourself alone in nature from time to time :)
For sure.
Informative and educative, keep the good job up
In a world where “being productive” is a philosophy of life, sitting still, under the sun, can be a waste of time. However, nothing could be further from the truth. While we are still, rather than listening to the world, we can listen to ourselves. I have long since discovered the pleasure of “doing nothing”. The sun charges, transmits energy. Here's to months full of sunshine for you, my friend.
Sounds like a perfectly captured and shared moment of perfection and happiness there. How often can those moments pass by undetected because our attention is off on some seemingly pressing issue? When I think back to moments of happiness to energize me a little, I think of how fleeting they are, but don’t have to be.
This mindfulness can present us with countless moments of pause and happiness if we let it. The warmth of the sun after a long winter sounds like the perfect kind right now.
