it is our soul's
natural state
but in this life
we must move
somewhere beyond
the tyranny of now.
chasing this
endless summer
is bliss. In it we will find the
space to think and
change the arc
of our narrative.
this world through
the eyes of a million people
and a few gurus
who unsuspectingly
drip wisdom from
their very lives, in every
cell of their being.
down little alleys
and twisted streets,
enraptured in a sort of
childish awe of people,
places, and things
in which I've never
heard the name.
still have some miles to travel,
these eyes, so many
sunsets to savor,
tastes of foreign flavors
to satisfy this yearning, so deep.
keeping our memories
from dust and all
these ghosts
of pain and of time
and build a life, sublime,
I dream.

Poetry should move us, it should change us, it should glitch our brains, shift our moods to another frequency. Poetry should evoke feelings of melancholy, whimsy, it should remind us what it feels like to be in love, or cause us to think about something in a completely different way. I view poetry, and all art really, as a temporary and fragile bridge between our world and a more pure and refined one. This is a world we could bring into creation if enough of us believed in it. This book is ephemera, destined to end up forgotten, lingering on some dusty shelf or tucked away in a dark attic. Yet the words, they will live on in memory. I hope these words become a part of you, bubble up into your memory when you least expect them to and make you feel a little more alive.

Most of us have experienced a moment of perfect peace at least once in our lives. In these moments we lose ourselves and feel connected to everything. I call these mindful moments. Words can’t describe how complete they make us feel.
These moments are usually fragile, evaporating in seconds. What if there was a way to train your mind to experience more of them? It’s deceptively easy and requires nothing more than a subtle shift in mindset. My new book, Mindful Moments, will teach you to be much more content despite the chaos and imperfect circumstances continuing to unfold around you. Well I can say that the current “now” definitely does feel more tyrannical than ever. I can't wait to finally be able to walk down streets and alleys again and feel like I'm heading in some meaningful Direction.
Yes, it's beginning to feel a bit like a bottomless pit but as they say, it's always darkest just before the dawn. I'm hoping that's the case here.
This is the awe and vigour of someone who loves traveling, visiting new places and probably basking in the excitement of new adventures. I definitely could feel the fourth verse spelt the whole essence of the poem and gift me a different direction. In life basically we hope to achieve more, dream differently and get to experience what it feels to travel the world and all it's excitements and thrills. Nicely written. It's been a while I've stumbled on one of our piece.

Thanks! So glad you enjoyed it. I hope all is well on your side of the world.
All is definitely well, I'm currently roofing that project at the moment, there are unrests in my side of the world, so building is a little laid back. I'm looking at may or June to get everything done.
I'm glad to hear the project is coming along! I can't wait to see the finished product!
The childish awe of which you speak is the way I go about my daily life. The newest bud on a plumeria, the marvel of a freshly laid egg, the intoxicating scent of the leaves on a fig tree....surely simple pleasures but nontheless leaving me in awe of the universe, and feeling small. The world is filled with such wonders and it is magical.
Beautiful, beautiful poetry <3
I very much try to live my life that way too. Getting out of my comfort zone and familiar surroundings seems to jolt me back into that mindset. That's probably the reason I feel empty if I don't have a trip planned. Thank you @tamaralovelace!
Do you think that childish awe is something one can regain? Maybe it's still somewhere inside you, and maybe easier to find than we might at first think.
reminded me of
I like how this makes you think of 2 kinds of stillness, enforced (as it is now), and natural (death).
Yes! Dreaming will move us beyond this madness. Lovely, uplifting work.
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it!
Hmmmmm... Very nice poem
This is the best part of the poem for me
Thank you.
What a beautiful poem about life. Everyone has dreams and has had dreams. I also like to dream. In the dream I felt everything was beautiful and I could have a father I never had. But everything will be gone as soon as I wake up from my sleep. .sometimes i want to live in a dream world so i never feel pain like i face in real life. Have a nice day, Eric.
Thank you Eliana! Dreams can get us through the darkest of hours but even more magical is when we can make some of those dreams come true. The world is definitely full of pain at present. I hope you have a wonderful week!
Well written. Wonderful use of wordplay and imagery. We hope to see more and more!
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Great lyrics, touched my soul. Listening to this, it seems to me that I am traveling, because it carries me so much. So great.
Stacey Kent is an amazing singer isn't she? We've seen her perform live several times. I play her music more than any other single artist. There's something magical about it.
Literally. Someone should do something against the tyrant, dictatorship-like government of my country (Hungary).
I do not know why the European Union (EU) allows the Hungarian government to keep most of its citizens under the local minimum wage. And the government have not raised the minimum pension since 15 years. The minimum pension is 28 500 HUF (€79.45 EUR) ($89.99 USD) per month. Many people live below the poverty line (deep poverty).
My pension-like income is approximately $250 USD per month. Nowadays I also work in a four hours per day packaging part time job, and my total income is still only approximately $470 USD, while the local minimum wage is approximately $550 USD. Yes. We have a huge difference between the minimum pension and the minimum wage. The minimum wage is more than 5x of the minimum pension. Of course nowadays the minimum wage exist only on paper. Almost no one receive it. Me neither.
And I do not understand if we are a member of the EU since 2004, then why we still use the worthless Hungarian Forint (HUF). Yes. Our currency is worthless. 1 HUF is currently €0.0028 EUR or $0.0031 USD.
Even some of the joke cryptocurrencies worth more than our fiat currency. And this is not a joke, but a fact. The truth. The sad truth. And in central Europe (not in Africa, nor in Asia).
Some people joke that Hungary is the North Korea of Europe, but as you can see, they have some truth in their words. Hungary is indeed similar to a dictatorship. Even if it is not visible by the foreigners at the first sight (they see mostly the propaganda, not the reality). This is very sad.
This is a huge shame on the Hungarian government. I really hope that the situation will change (improve/get better) soon. Wake up EU, wake up people. Do something.
Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.
Beautiful poem.. I wish I could travel like you and ecperience different parts of the world.
Great porm I must say
