Arrival of the hyperplastic apostle

in #poetry7 years ago (edited)

She tensed for the final twist of the wing-nut
which released the lid of the can,
but instead of the slithering morass
she had been expecting

A blazing breath of myriad colour billowed forth,
a fluttering mass gaseously grew to fill the room,
disintegrating into autonomous
Brownian flapping fragments

The brilliant flurry dissipated
as it's particles alighted; closed winged
on all members of the gathering

So that each one was swathed
in a numerousness
sufficient to convince even the wariest:
they too had been chosen.

Accepted.
