It’s raining outside
Somehow that seems fitting
God is crying with me.
Today would have made 37 years
So many plans
So many hopes
Cut short
There is no longer we-
Only me
But in some ways
It will always be-
Us and We
We raised 5 kids.
We held 8 grandkids.
We made so many friends.
We served in 5 churches.
We worked on our own blueberry farm.
We built a legacy!
There is just too much of us
In our home.
It paralyzes me
And I can’t move on,
So I have to let it go
But I’ll take the memories with me.
I’ve never been alone.
It's hard to face the world
And it’s scary.
At first I was angry,
How could you leave me?
But you didn’t .
I feel you everywhere!
In my kids
In my grandkids
In me.
You rubbed off on me,
And I’m pulling from that strength
And know-how and wisdom.
And I’m going to be fine.
Wherever I go,
Whatever I do,
Whoever I become,
You will always be a part of me.
And I will always love you.
Happy Anniversary!

😢❤️💪🏼
This is such a great piece it brings the hope of healing and love to everyone who is blessed enough to read it. 😎
You are 100% blessed. The photo belongs to you but he doesn't. He is one with you forever.
You are blessed to write this down and share it.
You will also strengthen others.
I am blessed to read your poem and really don't consider myself worthy to comment but I was assigned to "critique" your poem. Who am I a heart specialist? I've read so many poems, stories and jokes but seldom do I respond with emotion.
I share and feel your story. There is a power in the story that convicts, heals and mends. There is no jargon and endless patterns of repetition but a story coming to life in poetry form.
As for my own marriage we are just getting to our twentieth anniversary and all the shortcomings and disagreements we had seem so small compared to the thought that one day we will not see each other on earth.
Oh, my God, how much emotion! I have shared with you this moment thanks to the power of your writing. In truth I felt every word, every rope tensed, there are so many experiences in 37 shared years that, simply, there it is, there they stay, they never die. Thank you for sharing with us your wedding anniversary because although there is no physical, you know that it will always be in you and in the world that they built. Your poem is my find of the week. Excellent scriptural work, beautiful! Strength, @firststeps!
