This is a poem that I wrote last year but I want to share it with you again...
She lives in a big house away from the noise
Far away from all adults, and children with toys
She watches them daily, from a distance so far...
and if she catches them..
she puts their eyes in a jar...
She waits every year
For that one special day
When children dress up, and then go to play...
But they really should be scared
of the blind old witch...
while she picks one of the children
as her voice rise in pitch
Come closer.... come closer
is the song that she sings
while the bat flies above her, with wide spread-out wings
That night while they're strolling from door to door
she is ready to trick them, with no treat in sight
then she catches one, and they struggle with all their might
But she wants nothing but an eye ...no more
Because for one single night
nearly this time of year
This very same witch can see very clear
So if this day comes closer
all the children should hide
From the blind old witch
living on the other side.....
Very well written free flow poem. Nice !

Halloween is a great source of inspiration for writing. My Halloween story is doing well. Good luck with yours.

@giantbear, it's said that All Hallows' Eve is one of the nights when the veil between the worlds is thin - and whether you believe in such things or not, those roaming spirits probably believe in you, or at least acknowledge your existence, considering that it used to be their own. Even the air feels different on Halloween, autumn-crisp and bright.
Lovely poem.
lovely poem and well written
Nice and creepy! I'm about to post my own Hallloween-inspired poem!
