I recently saw a movie named ‘Wind River’. The movie was touching and it was written based on a true story. The movie is centered on a murder case of a girl found frozen in the snow, raped and beaten in a remote Native American Reservation. The man who found the body is a predator hunter/ tracker, who also lost his daughter in a similar way but when the body of his daughter was found the medical examiner couldn’t get vital details of how she died.
Cory Lambert (the predator hunter) happens to know the decease girl and her family, she was a very good friend to his late daughter. The FBI agent (Jane) assigned to the case had to team up with Cory Lambert (who’s both a tracker and hunter) in order to investigate the murder. The deceased girl could not make it to safety but she exhibited the quality of a fighter and warrior, running 6miles barefooted in the snow is crazy. The story was inspirational and emotional.
The movie also shows how the Native America culture is victimized in a way that takes us inside their world and their souls, but the journey is skillfully handled and never heavy handed.
There was a scene close to the end of the movie where the FBI agent was thanking Cory Lambert for saving her life, telling him she was lucky and his response was mind-blowing, which goes
**'Jane (FBI agent) you're a tough woman. You saved your own life, he continue by saying luck don't live out here. Out here, you survive or surrender which is determined by your strength and by your spirit. 'Wolfs don't kill unlucky deer’s they kill the weak ones'. **
To me the message was don't give-up, keep on fighting and you might walk away victorious. Believe me, Wind River is a fascinating crime drama.
I also love the poem in the movie, read and enjoy
**A MEADOW IN MY PERFECT WORLD
There is a meadow in my perfect world
where wind dances the branches of a tree,
casting leopard spots of light across the face of a pond...
The tree stands tall and grand and alone,
shading the world beneath it.
There will come a day when i rest
against its spine and look out over a valley
where the sun warms, but never burns.....
I will watch leaves turn
Green, then amber, then crimson.
Then no leaves at all....
But the tree will not die
For in this place, winter never comes....
It is here, in the cradle of all I hold dear,
I guard every memory of you.
And when I find myself frozen in the mud of the real,
far from your loving eyes....
I will return to this place,
close mine, and take solace in the simple perfection
of knowing you.**
