Was leafing through poems online today saw one by Greg Payne that really struck a chord... Maybe twas because I've been feeling down and in somewhat of a rut for a while but anyway it was a really lovely piece and it got me writing. . .
I stumbled once upon a crossroad to demon summon
To satisfy my desire which are not common
To my wishes whether good or ill
And in return my soul steal
To go into the ocean and the sea
And find lost treasure of fortune and glee
To dig the earth and to me bring
The best of treasures to fuel my greed
And riches to grant wishes
Of lust, fornication and beautiful witches
To sway opinion and grant favours
To punish enemies and bless endeavours
But after all was done
And the battle won
I felt empty and my soul torn
I guess it's true what the Bible says
All the riches don't measure to all your days
For in truth do I say it's all vanity
But that's already been written
So I must leave now for my loss is certain...
