In spiral gusts
Begins
Just above my head
And swirling flakes
Showers of falling stars
Become the one reality
In dreams of winter nights.
My mind on the blizzard
Cannot recall
The laughing girls
So long ago,
And if it did
Would it end
This delirium of snow
In a warm bed?
With covers to lie between,
Your face
In the shadows
And only the glow
Of stars and snow
Through an icy window.
And I am alone
On this wintry feast
And want you alone
In the night
When what I say
And how I feel
Might finally come close
To the truth.
