Alone in the House

Dusk
And shadows pass
Like a cat
Upon the stairs

You stifle
A small laugh
And say there’s
Nothing there

Dark recesses
And alcoves
Harbor
Troubling thoughts

While outside
November rains
Thrum
Like ticking clocks

It’s hard to say
What prompts these thoughts
Perhaps the rain
Or wintry draughts

Or perhaps the answer's
Something else—
Fear of being
By myself

You're most welcome!

I have a love/hate relationship with the dark recesses and alcoves of my mind. I don't know who I would be without them.

Me too! Deb just told me you posted - I better get over there and have a look :)

Are poetry suit with paint always? How to develop it.

paintings work well with poetry - you just pick one with the same theme

love that pic at the top. that's neat. I didn't like the poem at first due to it's short lines.. some being one word.. seemed weird to me. but after i read it the second time faster i could see better what it meant and could identify.

Amazing dear.I truly appreciate your work.
