Toxic Autumn

in #poetry7 years ago (edited)

Leaves are turning,

Crackling

Burning.

Flags,

Flapping

Parchments.

Scattering.

Leaves are turning

Rustling

Rushing

A stream

A waterfall

Cascading

Blustering

Music

Seduces

Sleep

Encased

In glassy

Embrace

We lie

Sheltered

From autumn’s

Stain

Soothed

By the hiss

Of rain

Atmospheric and dynamic, beautiful poem!

Everything seems to be on fire here and still at peace at the same.

I see images that reminds me of the coming together of a "beauty" and a "beast"

Love the way you use natural elements as a source of inspiration. I use colours most times especially black.

This is fantastic.

@johnjgeddes

thanks, @mimy. That is a really good comment as you penetrated into the subtext.

I am thrilled. You are welcome.

I've just started on Steemit and this has been a really nice poem to have as an introduction to the community. So much imagery for so few words. Nice work :)

thank you, @jonbest and welcome. You're beginning well by making substantive comments and not just, 'nice work'. Glad to have you along

I really enjoyed the imagery in this autumn poem @johnjgeddes thank you for sharing!

It's an Expressionist poem

Beautiful, John.

thanks, lydon :)

I like it.. Nice job! I have some writings if interested.. https://steemit.com/@elevatedthinking

I also noticed it says 6 views on my page when I look at this poem but you have over a 100 up votes in 30 minutes... seems kind of odd. There must be a lot of computer generated votes or something. Or something I'm missing. Anyways, I read it. Create creativity. I don't see much like that.

thanks. Re: your views - you don't have many followers right now so it's slow going. Most vote and respond within the first hour

You're welcome. I didn't make myself clear before I guess. For instance.. I just clicked on your poem and it says 11 views at the bottom. 200 up votes.. that's what I was talking about. I only looked at it like three times to make sure I was seeing it correctly. Which it doesn't seem to count passed my first view. It's like most of yours are whales / people don't even read it, just up vote. You do have a ton of followers so I bet it's people that have something set to up vote at a particular time after a post shows up on certain peoples accounts. Like steemvoter or something similar. Congrats on your success. You deserve what you get. Also, if you want to know the best time for you to post..

Scroll to where it says best time and it will have your top four times to post. According to your account. BTW anyone can use this tool for theirs by typing in their name in the top left. The guy who created it is in the top right. For those that were unaware of this information.

yes, I use voting apps, and sometimes bots boost a post's value.
A few months agoI couldn't get 20 votes to post on steemland (it's now defunct) so you must be patient and keep posting good content until you get noticed.

I always post at 2pm and 8-9pm EST. I know some time slots are busier than others, but my followers are on at those times and can count on my posting in that window. You have to be predictably consistent every day, every time

Autumn, nice creativity and beautiful image

Love the way this piece reads, and it really does summon a certain mood for me. Splendid writing :)

thanks, Tina - It's an incantation

When I was young we burned leaves by the curb. I loved the smell, but alas it’s not allowed any more. Good use of alliteration, nice poem.

yes, I'm still nostalgic for wood smoke in autumn...Thank you :)

Cool for me it evokes similar emotions as does the smell of soil after rain you know what i mean?

wow...incredibly beautiful..l love the sensation.upped
