Spend a night with a beggar (a poem)

in #poetry7 years ago

Plastic sheets..
And buzzing sounds..
Wooden wares..
ragged shirts..
And tattered beards..
Yet full of smiles..
For the the gift of breathe in his nostrils..

Spend a night with a beggar..
Because you'd struggle to hold back the tears..
He had dreams to prove the world wrong..
He had faith he would overcome his fears..
And smile at kids anytime they ridicule and Jeer..

Spend a night with a beggar..
And see the need to kill your greed..
And see the pain of living with agony, ridicule and jeopardy..

Spend a night with a beggar..
Because you were both born..
But his naked body..
Brings him shame..
His broken spirits brings him agony..
Yet he lives hoping one day,
he will smile again..

Spend a night with a beggar..
Oh! Did you notice you're not even poor..?
Did you see the pain of having nobody to love you.?
Did you see their smile.?
Its smile that tears you apart.?
And eats up your soul..

Spend a night with a beggar.,
it could have been you.?
Yet it is not..!

Brilliant, as always. :)

Really Dee?

Yes of course! :)

I live around a lot of poverty in Vancouver, your poem rings so true. Most of the homeless I have met are more kind and sincere then anyone too involved in their own lives to look outside themselves.

Yeah and a person wont know the essence of suffering if you haven't been in their shoes, thank you so much for reading
