Remind Me Of Sunset

Every moment with sons of the sun, reminds
me of songs that burns the throats of boys on
shoes too heavy for their legs to carry, and
stories not fit for the space between their lips.

Yesterday,
a child was thrown into shards of
nothingness when his father became mute and
his body lowered into a room below his feet,
he watched as a part of him drifted away.

He became tense, restive and shattered
Brothers and sister consoled him, he was
whole again.

Today,
he finds himself on the street baling
with boys of the same fate, he's forgotten
he once had a father, since mother's legs
left no traces in his head.

He built castles on the street & rooms
under bridges, he puffs smokes of cigrate
from his mouth, nose and ears, and spends
nights with her-lots.

Tomorrow,
He grew weak, weak and sick, his soul
began to travel miles from his body, friends
rejects him, families know not his abode,
the world seem not fair with him.

He remember how his father grew cold
without growing old, he's afraid of growing
cold too, he called the God he never knew
perhaps, mother didn't teach him to pray.

In few days, living showed him the path
to leaving when the sun finally set on him.

Nice post....
keep trying to the best....
I will support you as well...

Really, really liked this piece.

I loved the way you used "yesterday, today, and tomorrow" to section the story of the poem. Really cool way to convey time and it fits incredibly well within the "narrative" structure of the poem.

What was your inspiration for this, if you don't mind me asking?

Upvoted and cant wait to hear the thoughts behind your process! Would love to have you stop by my latest piece to get your input on. it! : )
