I still hold that Hallelujah is the best love song ever written, simply because it has informed so many different interpretations of love - religious, romantic, sexual - over the years. Although to be honest, I do prefer the Jeff Buckley version to Cohen's!

I agree that it’s a song of surpassing Beauty and, only recently, was introduced to Buckley version which it is difficult to listen to & not weep.
My fav Cohen is “There For You” 🙏🏼
Oh, my! How could I even miss this conversation?!!!!!! Leonard Cohen is my love from the first sight (when I saw his writes), he's much more of a poet than a singer, we were talking about him in the poetry class once, I remember it was Guy who said "he's more of a poet" and I quoted "so long Marianne..."
But Hallelujah is a masterpiece, every time I listen to it, it opens up from a new side (maybe because it has so many verses written by Cohen and presented by him little by little in different perfomances), and I'm sure I still don't get the whole idea... The title itself is enormously meaningful! Interestingly, I've heard a girl singing it in Hebrew)
I just feel so special sharing this love with you two))))
Glad to hear it has such a strong connection with you too :) I'd heard there was something like 80 verses in total which Cohen wrote for it? I didn't realise he performed different ones on different nights! Just seems to add to the mystery and allure of it all...
