ELECTION DAY BLUES…

Imagine a day we voted with joy,
a true holiday for one and all.
Laughed and cajoled,
as we mingled -- not sighed.

That right to cast your ballot
was not always at hand.
The struggles from the past
were fought so you can.

With pride in your heart
your spirit unbound,
a new leader awaits
but no shiny crown.

This world is so precious
life so sweet...
Instead of the hate,
can we just learn to compete.

United we stand,
divided we fall --
For the sake of the future
we must consider them all.

An education to be had,
civility for all --
the regard for the excellence
we've all seen before.

Democracy may weep
it's people cry --
but we still have a choice
to live and to thrive.

Electing a leader we hold
firm to the word.
With honor and grace
we expect you to perform.

For the lies of the past
the men that have died,
elections have consequences
there's nowhere to hide.

So vote with your heart
stand and be counted.
Sing from the rooftops
and dance in the streets.

And even if you lose,
you weathered the fight,
but someone's gonna have
...election day blues

You have a good style. I love it. Great poem @macksby !

Thanks @rissakoirtyohann... I appreciate it!

Poetry is very nice and full of meaning
@mackssby

Beautiful way to look at the current situation. A very emotional day without any doubt!

Thanks @surfermarly -- it's getting VERY emotional, for sure... :))

It got definitely. So how do you feel about the result?

Oh boy... YIKES!!!

personally, I feel elated and irrationally hopeful today! I think this rocky election journey has brought all of us to a better place collectively. I know many may argue with me, but in the big picture something very important is happening.

It's been a nasty election...

oh yes and now the day after I see just how nasty the nation has become too...let's get busy and create a reality we love!

Indeed it has Macksby... And if you had added that it certainly did not bring us to a better place... I would agree.

I'll drink to that...
