Sleepless nights
and endless days
lost in the fog
a surreal kind of daze
not really understanding
how it’s gotten this far
unable to see
who you really are
a life with such promise
so full of hope
morphs into a nightmare
you can no longer cope
expectations never met
burn within your eyes
the mind plays tricks
creating more lies
still part of this world
but dying inside
too tired to run
nowhere left to hide
once so full of joy
just happy to be alive
now waking each day
praying to survive
forsaken by those
you once held so dear
shadowed by such an
unrelenting fear
the desire to die
eclipses your faith
disguising the truth
under it's weight
trapped in the darkness
lost out at sea
relinquishing your will
unable to break free
it's never very pretty
that fall from grace
from bright shining light
to an unrecognizable place.
