Poem - The Truth on the Wall

in #poetry7 years ago (edited)

There in the mirror he sees me.
Attaches and holds me at breath.
A man of so many faces
Sometimes more than memory lends
He's been there for many a year
staring back from boyhood till now
and though an adult he seems to be
His eyes hold the heart of a child

There's ease in the way that he poses
An activity turned to routine
Impressive, important, mature
The commonalities of what he must be
His clothes are forever changing
From stained T's to striped ties and suites
His face wears with each day that passes
But those eyes never forget the truth
