All my life, spent in it's chase
to reach it, to get just one gaze.
Countless trials, hurdles, and hardships,
infinite obstacles, mistakes, and sunken ships.
The journey has been harsh,
oceans, lands, and the inbetween marsh.
Everything has built up to this tunnel dark,
across it lies my goal, a chance to make my mark.
It's wide, dark, and deep
and I worry for my jeep,
many a trial it has seen,
but it is the stone on which I lean.
Though it's been run down, patched up and some more
I doubt it can make this final journey, and endure the gore.
For I can see that it will be hard,
and I must keep up my guard.
Now as I have set off
I am almost across.
I can see it,
my destiny,
my purpose,
my glory.
Restless, but peaceful
sorrowful, but happy.
The music built up to this crescendo,
and I'm proud that I danced to this tune.
As I emerge from the darkness,
and sunlight warms my bruised face.
I'm happy that such a place too exists,
where dreams sometimes do come true.
