It's the first Steem Poetry Slam, where authors from every walk of Steemit life have a chance to share their work while gaining exposure, a chance for rewards, and greater interaction with the Steemit community at large.
Rules
Post your entry on your own blog and tag it #steempoetryslam
Please title your entry post clearly. For example:
(Steem Poetry Slam Challenge Entry: (Title of your work)
Please use any form of poetry you like from Haiku to Sonnet, to Sound Poetry (for more about sound poetry check out @greatdabu).
Poetry can be free form, but formatting and markdown may play a role in how your entry is judged, so make it count!
Please feel free to use pictures, drawing, or paintings with your poetry but only if they are your own work or in clear collaboration with another artist! Beware a call to steemitabuse-classic if reverse image search turns up something.
Collaboration and community is the life blood of Steemit - Go ahead and work together, but make sure it is clear it is a collaboration and only post it on one account.
You can post up to 3 entries on one post so let your creative juices flow! Just make sure they are clearly separated in the post.
Different guest judges will be relied upon to decide who will receive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, as well as Honorable Mentions.
Deadline: The last day for the challenge is Friday, September 9th Midnight (UTC -4). Please exercise patience while the guest judge/s make their decisions. The results should be released during the weekend, with a fresh challenge to follow!

2nd Prize: 50 SBD
3rd Prize: 25 SBD

Here's an example of how to present a collaboration, in this case some Sound Poetry by @greatdabu of a poem I wrote recently. Shameless plug for him because he's brand new to the platform, I love the work he does and I didn't even know about Sound Poetry.

The above are just two examples of possible entries. It's up to you to decide what style to use, but there isn't a preference for a particular style, so get creative and take a risk.

I was planning on doing a poetry post tomorrow anyway and would like to enter but unfortunately it's part of a series, so I already have a title for the post to be consistent with the series Secret Letters of a Broken Heart. Is there any way I can still enter without using that title?
Hi Beanz, I also don't like breaking up titles when working in a series. How about you challenge yourself to make a brand new one for the challenge so you don't have to adjust titles?
Very cool idea. I'm totally into it. I'm new around Steemit, but I'm already having a gas. This new Sound Poem art form is something I've been experimenting with for about a year. When I joined Steemit, I immediately thought this is the best place on the net to introduce this concept. I think it can help draw new attention to poets (and composers, and visual artists). Plus, they're fun as hell to make :)
