An Imagined Empire

IMG_9908 (6).jpeg

the ridged meets the smooth
the rough becomes gentle

therapeutic abrasion

an extraordinary touch
whorls and loops
delicate tracings

an acolyte of the divine
lives in his fingertips
braille tellings
of tales more ancient
than the earth
leave prints and patterns
invisible but permanent
felt upon bared flesh

mystical tattoos
sacred parchment

no direct communication
static and white noise
but she makes her plea
and parole is granted

you may build to heaven

IMG_9907.jpeg

through a curved looking-glass
two minds enter into mutual zen
sparkling clear

sublimating air

shifting chromatics
grand and symbolic
mental architecture

an imagined empire
shaped and formed
given dimension
figured by two

My son and I are currently studying ancient civilizations. I have also recently watched Ancient Apocalypse and revisited the youtube channel Bright Insights. Now don't go worrying about me falling for misinformation. I have done a fair share of academic study in the fields of anthropology and archaeology. I know how to think critically and when encountering alternative theories, I do so.

I think in time we will find that Hunters and Gathers did indeed build civilizations akin to how we define civilization: monuments and cities. Of course they did, and of course they were built on coast lines and river banks, meaning natural disasters regularly washed them away, much like agrarian settlements were also regularly washed away. Few archaeologist or anthropologists would argue against this second supposition. And of course dominant scholars argue against the Younger-Dryas apocalypse and the likelihood of Hunter-Gathers Civilization because it is a threat to their Academic power and prestige.

I have more of an intellectual/academic bone to pick with the Bright Insight fellow. He points to a lot of archaeological similarities between geographically distant societies as proof of an older history of civilization and unfortunately ... I don't think as convincingly as Hancock.

Rocks are rocks all over the world, and if you stack them, over time, they will fuse. So I do not find rock walls or handles on sarcophagi (so they could be lifted ... duh) independently being created around the world is out of the realm of possibility. And so yes ... also pyramids could be conceived independently in multiple places.

Why and how is it possible that pyramids are built by people who seemingly have nothing to do with each other?

Simply. If we want to build up, first we must build out, invest in foundations. Overtime, if we are careful to continue to build out and strengthen those foundations, there is no limit to how high we can build.

If we build up too fast without strengthening foundations as we go, there will come suddenly a time when there is no more building up. Our structures will collapse. The pyramid stands as a symbol of sustainable growth and enlightenment. There is no reaching new heights without strong roots, without Nurturing the whole.

Sort:

The pyramids certainly are impressive engineering feats. I often wondered if they may have been helped in some way...

Divine inspiration ... perhaps;)

also pyramids could be conceived independently in multiple places.

Of course they could. That shape is the easiest way to build tall structures.

There are similarities all over the ancient civilisations that we'll probably never understand, but is certainly fun to study, read, and debate. The number 12 has always fascinated me with it's importance springing up in all sorts of cultures.

The number 12 ...

What do you mean?
