configure, converse
with your shields
a myriad of alters perched
upon your shoulders
under your thumb
under your foot
over your head
changeable
inflexible

or so you remember
did you blackout
or did time fly away
with your memory

where'd it go
what did you do
was it you

blame
the sharp-witted one
armed with conjecture
a hair-flip cutlass

the devil doesn't care
but he sure likes to gift
those sadistic kisses

No, it was the absence
of the stuffy one, a time-honoured
dignitary, conceived in historical
romance, you once read

all circumstance
ritual and regulation
dependable when present
but a heavy crown depleted
his brow of charm

confession, we both know
it was the beloved, wide-eyed
apprentice scholar
full of wonder, but oppositional
to getting any job done

a willow-corps d'esprit
journeymen on the cusp
of awakening to the legions
that stand guard, perched
upon your shoulder

Our weather here in Virginia today looks like the photograph in your post. It reminds me of Michigan, and why I left LOL. Perhaps my son is right and we did not go far enough South!

Haha ... yep it was a pretty cold day but deceptive in places. With the sun reflecting off high wheat stubble and it being a blamy 20 celsius in the care ... thing could have been mistaken for late summer. One more cold day however and this will hover around zero ... not bad for Northern Alberta in January:)

Beautiful words and photos! I got the cold air in my room all of a sudden!

Haha ... sorry for that:)
