Deep End

in #poetry7 years ago

I’m in the deep end
I don’t know how to swim
I’m drowning in my stubbornness
Don’t wanna be like them

I was thrown off the diving board
Into a pool of shit
At least that’s what it seems like
And I’ve had enough of it
Your ideas of beauty
Are a shameful, shameful thing
Only accomplished through unnecessary
Pain and suffering
I really need to surface
I’m running out of air
No flotation device in sight
And no one even cares

I’m in the deep end
I don’t know how to swim
I’m drowning in my stubbornness
Don’t wanna be like them

Surrounded by disgusting filth
That’s killing my reason to be
It’s clouding up my vision
Now I can’t even see me
It leaves a bad taste in my mouth
And I smell something rotten
I was used for all I had
And now I am forgotten
Society is to blame
Your culture of fear
You only care about yourselves
You all threw me here

I’m in the deep end
I don’t know how to swim
I’m drowning in my stubbornness
Don’t wanna be like them
