This picture inspired me to think about the nature of the universe, and the constructs we create to label its mechanisms.
What is time to the myriad of heavenly bodies that illuminate our night sky?
The starlight that you perceive with your eyes on earth isn't the same light being produced through fusion happening at the core of stars at this moment! In most cases that impression of the stars you see, is light that is millions of years old.
This type of thing really inspires me to think about how I perceive the world, and the preconceptions that come from those mental constructs.
We are all fundamentally made up of the same building blocks of matter.
Why do we find the need to create structures of separation, both ideologically, and in our physical endeavors?
This haiku attempts to capture what Japanese Haiku masters call Sabi (寂):
the sense of the inexorable passage of time, the beauty or serenity that accompanies the advance of age, when the life of the objects and its impermanence are highlighted through the verse.
Along with Karumi (軽み):
beauty in simplicity; poetic beauty reflected in its simplicity, free from preconceptions and moral judgment.
In this haiku I have tried to adhere to the 2nd iteration of the toriawase stylistic model - toriawase with nibutsu shōgeki to the third ku. Which consists of introducing an image in the first line then developing that image in the second line. In the third and final line we present a second image in contrast.

Love the haiku mate!
I would love this in like a calender (preferbly on the toilet because we spend some time there every day) and just have some new poetry on the daily
Not that the haiku is shit though ;) :D
You know what I mean
Hi @karinxxl
Ha ha, yeah I might have a think about doing that... I've published enough haiku on here to make up at least a weekly haiku calendar. Could put it on amazon and see how it sells.
It could be called "Haiku while you Poo" 😂 Sry, couldn't help myself.
Yeah this...i would love this. Haiku for poo :))
Imagine the reviews...
"Reading raj's weekly haiku on the loo is a really illuminating and moving experience."
The puns and double entendres are endless 😂
P.s. I should add that the word 'Loo' is a very english slang word for toilet.
