The rules of Haiku are quite simple.

It is focused on two things really.

  1. The syllables per line... most haiku poems adhere to 5/7/5
    so in my haiku in this post

The winter maelstrom (5 syllables)
wears cliffs down to shale and sand - (7 syllables)
an ocean hourglass. (5 syllables)

And

  1. Traditional Japanese Haiku are always a contemplative reflection on nature.

That is the skill of Haiku. I hope this explains things 😀
