[POEM] A Gift for You

I wished to give you something, something of worth,
but at the same time something worth having.
I thought a day and night of the gift that would
compliment my intentions.
Gold, I knew, had no value next to the shine my eyes
see in you,
And diamonds are not as clear and perfect as the
image in you.
Money had no say in this gift, so I thought on.

Frustration began playfully on my mind, for I could
give you the World,
But it was the fact that you stand on its surface
which made it worth giving.
I thought of the places I could take you to, far and
wide,
which I thought could only be improved with you in
the vista.
I could drag a mountain to your feet, showing the
strength of my feelings.
The strength of feelings which touch me inside.

What was the point? I knew that selfish became me in
the quest.
I only wanted to the feeling of recognition to be
pure and good.
The pain took me to sleep, and I cried on your
image, weary of my failure.
Then, I knew what I should do! I arose.
I would give you my beating heart, the tears from
joy and the happiness in my smile.
I shall give you these gifts for they are the gifts
you give to me.
