Joyous greetings, fellow steemlings! After a while completely focused on writing fiction, I've decided to take part in @terrycraft's amazing Steemit Poetry Contest on its 14th iteration. The theme is one I know well: Words.
I must admit I was going to miss this one as well, but my friend @andresfer0310 started talking about this contest he was gonna join, with poetry, a weekly thing... It wasn't hard to realize he'd found one of my favorite running contests on the site.

Of words, some words of wisdom said
I think we should dwell on
Can only be so vast
As our vocabulary is
The world, through words we craft
Or others if you want
A deeper understanding earn
Or just the right to vaunt

This was a great opportunity to remember one of the few truly great persons in my country's history that I truly admire.
The man was Arturo Uslar Pietri, a sort of humanities jack-of-all-trades who was as much a fiction writer as he was a politician and historian. He wasn't the first to talk about the limits of our world being the limit of our vocabulary, but he wrote an article on it once, which was where I read it first.
