Original Poem: The Woods Tremble

My armoured sentries cower

by their posts, branded with the mark

of a cult. Their stillness chills

the empty air as their

menace mace-heads stare

at throats of passers-by,

just the right height

for the kill. But still,

the woods tremble when they see

my saw. There’s no more work

to be done today, but they won’t rest –

they’ve been tricked before.

– Tamara Drazic

This is an ekphrastic poem inspired by the sculpture, Woods III by Japanese artist, Shigeyo Toya.

nod like a japanese jazz player :-) ... open for interpretation is usually the best way to do it since nothing beats personal imagination to fill in the dots, something often used in drama, horror and the likes too, thats why freddy krueger is funny, while something like clive barkers dread (and there i was going ... 'thirst??!? nope park wook, 'thinner??!? nope stephen king ..., DREAD!) would be scary even if it involves a lot less visual gore ... which is on and off/topic relating to this i suppose

that's open for interpretation ;)

Scary stuff, what's getting cut here heads or trees?

I guess that's up for interpretation! Thanks so much for commenting.

Trees are kinda like emotions, sometimes you can climb them if there’s times you chop’em up and burn them.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting. I really appreciate it!
