RE: The Ocean's Bounty - Youtube Poetry Reading

in #poetry14 days ago

Oh, this is a beautifully evocative piece. I admire how it captures the experience of spearfishing and the ocean’s mesmerizing depths.

The imagery is vivid and pretty immersive. You pulled me completely into the scene with the sensory details; the salty air, the shimmering water, and the marine life gliding through the reef. I also love the contrast between the calm anticipation before the plunge and the vibrant, almost surreal underwater world is striking. The final lines, “Hunting in the drift / of tidal memories,” has left a lingering, almost meditative effect, suggesting that the ocean is not just a place of adventure but also of deep reflection. Thanks for sharing <3

Thank you for such wonderful feedback @teknon

Your analysis is very astute tbh.

The final lines, “Hunting in the drift / of tidal memories,” has left a lingering, almost meditative effect, suggesting that the ocean is not just a place of adventure but also of deep reflection.

This is exactly how I feel when I scuba dive or (rarely) attempt to free-dive. It is like a balance between the alertness needed to pay close attention to air supply and other important procedures to dive safely, and an almost spiritual wonder at the nature down on the reef. I often find a meditative clarity when underwater diving, and this definitely comes out my poems about the undersea world.

Thanks for reading, and for your gr8 comment 😀👍
