The eastern rays had caressed her face,
As she cried unshed tears
Gleaming sweat smeared this ebony lass,
As she felt untold agony
Kinky hair and gold kissed lips
Yet her 'opened' eyes had held unending anguish.
This chain of pain clenched her soul
This thorn of roses pierced her heart
This hand of pain shattered her resolve
And by this scarred tree she found home
And as she perched here,
Writhing yet hoping; hoping yet believing
Believing yet struggling within.
And as she leaned on this tree
She heard its whispers and tales
Of this scathed black angel
Who had lost her last flicker of hope
And had been on a journey
To find an elixir for her scathed soul.
Simply stunning. Evocative, moving and elegant.
From one poet to another; I salute you.
