She is loved and hated among brethren
She is tested and tried
She's been scorned
She is mocked and ridiculed
She's despised and laughed at
She's been rebuked, reprimanded and scolded
She's need instructed and corrected

She cries when others laugh
Frowns when others smiles
She is always seen but never heard
She is like a snail that has only its shell to hide
She makes a move for freedom only to fail
She succeeds in her little endeavors
She tries to keep up the space and span in life
She rises to fall and vice versa

She becomes depressed in a way
Discouraged in another way
Her future seen to be fading away
Her plans and vision abolished
Her conclusion about life; a sad one

Oh you African Girl.!
Stand up and fight
The world awaits your glory and splendor
Stop wallowing in pain and anguish
Don't give way to failure
Don't accept defeat
You can do than what you think
You can be example to every other African girl
You're the pride of your father's land; Nigeria

Get up oh you African Girl
Your strengths are within; discover them and strife for the best
You are a victorious being
Don't think less of yourself
Many hates you and others envy you
For there's a light you refuse to shine because of fear.

It high time you prove them wrong
It time you take up the mantle
Its time you fight for your generation unborn
It time you carry the nation on your shoulder
