SPU Poetry Contest #6: Careless Mr. Marlow

Mr. Marlow, the epidemic is at its height.
It is true Mr. Marlow, the blue alien parasite
has been observed all over Europe.
Still blue but bigger; complex neurons
and mystifying fast adaptation to food of all types
the four horsemen have arrived. Buy into the hype.
Mr. Marlow not ever will a fruit or grain go ripe.
This is humanity's undoing,
The raving mad careless curiosity.

Mr. Marlow, the green of earth is turning redder by the day.
It seems the origin of the parasite is Mars. By the way,
when exposed to hostile conditions it crumples
preserves it's genetic material in core and stumbles
around in whims of forces protected by exoskeleton,
Red and microscopic, isotropic but also separate in relation
to one another.
the mars' red sand is the desolate dusts
over the earthling's graveyard, a hush
is how we'll go.

Compose yourself Mr. Marlow there isn't much left to do.
besides wait for cataclysmic finality, the absolute calamity.
What is it that you fear?
No one will be alive to care
that your brought this upon us.
it'll end before the fuss
even gets started.

Silly Mister Marlow! What a clumsy fellow! 😉
Very nice poem, I enjoyed reading it, I imagined Mr Marlow with a little top hat and suitcase, ready to leave earth! Good luck in the contest! 😊

Thanks. I am glad you enjoyed this. I wrote it as if Mr. Marlow would be scared to his core because I had chosen fear.

I imagine Mr. Marlow as the lead in a team of scientists who are updating him on their conclusions before him having to give a statement to the public...so many levels of fear XD ...Great work again @figuringoutsrn
