Hey everyone, a week ago I tried to explain how several Pokemon moves might be possible scientifically.
I want to continue with this continuing with 4 more types (I covered Water, Fire, Electric, and Grass already). This time I want to cover Fighting, Ground, Ice, and Acid Type Pokemon moves.
Fighting Type:
First off, fighting types. I know those will be pretty easy to explain in most cases, but since I plan on covering as many as possible Pokemon moves I'll have to add those as well.
Nevertheless, it is important to note that Fighting-type Pokemon have to be heavily trained to use certain moves.
Move | Explanation |
---|---|
Counter | A classical fighting move, quite used in a lot of Martial arts where the attack power of the opponent is used to strike back. |
Double Kick | Classic kick, just done twice. |
High Jump Kick | Jumping high and kicking, Pokemon using this attack have to be heavily trained to have an immense leg power to jump as high. |
Jump Kick | Similar to the High Jump Kick but possible for any Pokemon which is able to jump. |
Karate Chop | Classic Karate move (Train with Liam Neeson) |
Low Kick | Also a classic kick, in Capoeira it would be called "Rasteira de Costas" |
Rolling Kick | I would call this one a quite powerful kick in a real-life Pokemon battle, taking advantage from a hip movement to the side, throwing the leg in the opponent (Capoeira would call this a Meialua de Compasso) |
Seismic Toss | Also a classical fighting type move, can be combined with the jump power of a high jump kick to inflict a very high amount of power on the opponent. |
Submission | A classic wrestling-type move, quite similar to seismic toss, nevertheless ends up damaging the user a slight bit as well |
Ground Type:
Quite similar to fighting type moves, nevertheless, Ground-type Pokemon have an extreme low level of water molecules in their body which makes them almost immune to electric attacks, nevertheless, this is why their bodies have a heavy reaction with water type moves.
Move | Explanation |
---|---|
Bone Club | Hitting the opponent with a big bone on the head, effective since 20000BC |
Bonemerang | A nice move, Pokemon using this move require a hard level of training to make sure the thrown bone returns, also not possible with just any bone |
Dig | Pokemon being able to use Dig require extremely sharp claws, and strong hands to avoid taking damage. Additionally, the ground can't be out of a too hard material. |
Earthquake | Extremely heavy Pokemon can use Earthquake which, contrary to its name, doesn't cause a real earthquake, but depending on the battle location can lead to a loss of balance at the opponents Pokemon which can result in a strong advantage. |
Fissure | Similar to Earthquake very heavy ground type Pokemon, depending on the surface can cause the surface to split which, if reaching the opponents Pokemon can lead to a lot of damage. |
Sand Attack | Ohh, I hate this move, we saw it in a lot of movies already, throwing sands in someone eyes in the heat of a battle is cowardly and can give you a huge advantage! |
Ice Type:
Finally, we're getting to the interesting Pokemon moves again.
Ice Type Pokemon usually live in cold biomes, therefore, they should also be kept in something like a giant freezer. Interestingly, Ice Type Pokemon are Poikilotherm and, therefore, their normal body temperature is quite often < -20° C.
Very importantly it has to be noticed that those Pokemon are not able to battle under very warm conditions for a long period of time since they are not used to those temperatures, nevertheless, in short battle periods their attacks can be very devastating.
Move | Explanation |
---|---|
Aurora Beam | Liquid Butane-n gas runs through vast parts of Ice-Type Pokemon which can be, when spit at another Pokemon, due to the extremely low temperatures inflict heavy damage. |
Blizzard | Using very low temperatures and body mechanisms as for example wings in combination with spitting Butane-n gas at the opponents Pokemon can seem like a Blizzard for the opponent, besides making it more difficult to see, ice type Pokemon get stronger inside their own created Biome while it lasts. |
Haze | Similar to Mist, but the Pokemon passes through the battlefield and decreases the air temperature significantly, this costs the IceType Pokemon a lot of energy but has a lot of disadvantage for most opponents. |
Ice Beam | Similar to Aurora Beam, but using water which the Pokemon found in the environment and froze on the way through the body of the Pokemon. |
Ice Punch | Similar to Fire-type Pokemon, ice type Pokemon also sometimes have an opening in their palms which allows them to extract liquid Butane-n gas while they hit an opponent. |
Mist | The Ice Type Pokemon breaths in immense amounts of air and breaths it out with a slight temperature change resulting in the creation of mist on the battle field. |
Acid Type:
Acid Type Pokemon are not as interesting as IceType Pokemon since we actually have a lot of very similar animals already. (Including several species of Snakes for Example.). Acid type Pokemon have a very strong skin protecting them against acid which might come in contact with it during the battle.
Additionally, they have additional organs close to their mouth which produce a certain amount of acid which they can use in certain manners to inflict damage to an opponent.
Move | Explanation |
---|---|
Acid | Classic Acid attack where a Pokemon spits their acid straight at an opponent Pokemon |
Acid Armor | Acid Type Pokemon let Acid run down their body which increases their defense since it might inflict damage to a physical attack. |
Poison Gas | Classic Poison-type move, I know several people who reproduce this easily, just run! |
Poison Powder | Pokemon able to execute Poison powder attacks store poisonous particles in pores in their skin. Flexing their muscles can result in expelling the particles in the air. |
Poison Sting | At least 1 Bee does that every year, and it hurts every time! |
Sludge | Strong attack similar to Acid, Pokemon doing this attack gather a certain amount of poison in their mouth in combination with poisonous sludge from their stomach, deadly and disgusting. |
Smog | Classic Octopus defense mechanism, in combination with Pokemon which know how to use Poison Gas, you won't know where to run. |
Toxic | Very strong poison attack, where the attacking Pokemon empties their whole acid/poison producing organs at the attacker. |
I hope you liked this edition of Pokemon Type moves, if you find any problems with my explanations feel free to discuss them in the comments, I am sure we can come up with an explanation for everything =).
Merry Christmas to all of you.
(Even if I'm maybe a bit late with that)
Pokemon is science
I've loved your explanation!

If by here you mean here in steemit yes. If not the science of pokemon is rather questionable much more to say that they are related to STEM fields. Just be mindful of the tags... science fiction wouldn't be a bad tag...
