Pokémon GO players pose a serious threat to China's national security, according to an expert.
They have told Chinese websites that the game could help foreign spies discover the location of hidden military bases.
While the game is still not available in China, the highly-anticipated release could be dragged out as top army bosses consider the risks.
One artificial intelligence expert claimed the game, which makes players hunt down Pokémon in real-life locations, could capture areas not usually revealed online or on Google Maps .
It is also understood that if players are turned away from certain areas that information could be sent to Niantic, the American company behind Pokémon GO.
The country is said to be concerned about the information Niantic will collate through its players.
