Hi there. Here is a short Pokemon TCG post about card reveals from Pokemon Japan's Battle Partners set. Battle Partners expansion set is to be released in late January 2025. For the international crowd, the cards from Battle Partners are a part of the Journey Together set in late March 2025.
New Dunsparce Card
Here is another version of Dunsparce. This one has the I regulation mark. Dunsparce is a 70HP Colourless Basic Pokemon with one retreat cost and two attacks. Trading Places requires one Colourless Energy to allow you to switch this Pokemon with 1 of your Benched Pokemon.
The Ram attack is not very good. For two colourless Energy you do 20 damage.
This Dunsparce is okay. I am not sure if it is the optimal one. There is a different 70 HP with Find a Friend and a 60 HP one with a zero retreat cost. The 60 HP one is nice as it has zero retreat cost but it is vulnerable to Dragapult ex's Phantom Dive attack.
Dudunsparce ex
Dudunsparce ex is the evolved form of Dunsparce. You now have the option to evolve from Dunsparce to this Dudunsparce ex or into the draw support Dudunsparce (below).
Dudunsparce ex is a Stage 1 Evolution Pokemon ex with 270HP, three retreat cost and Fighting weakness. The Adversity Tail attack is one of those punish style attacks. For one colourless Energy the Adversity Tail attack does 60 damage for each of your opponent's Pokemon ex in play. If the opponent plays a lot of Pokemon ex along with Area Zero Underdepths then this Dudunsparce ex is a good niche attacker.
The second attack of Drill Break is good in certain situations. For three Colourless Energy you do 150 damage and ignore any effects on the opponent's Active Pokemon. It is good against those pesky Mimikyu walls.
Possible Card Combos With Dudunsparce ex
Here are some card combos that can be used. In theory I think they are good. But let's see how it plays out upon release.
If you are behind on Prize cards then you can use Counter Gain to reduce the cost of Dudunsparce ex's attack by 1 colourless Energy.
Combine Dudunsparce ex with a Tera Pokemon and Glass Trumpet to get Basic Energy from the discard pile to a benched Dudunsparce ex.
Overall I think Dudunsparce ex is an okay attacker. In some situations the attacks can come in handy. Decks that use the Dudunsparce draw engine may want to consider using 1 copy of Dudunsparce ex as a backup attacker. The three retreat cost is a major weakness though.
