More Marnie and Steven Pokemon Card Reveals From Japan

in #pokemontcg3 days ago

Hi there. I cover more Pokemon cards from Marnie's Pokemon and Steven's Pokemon. Marnie is a Dark type trainer from the Sword & Shield era and Steven is a Champion from the Hoenn League (Gen 3 Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire).

Marnie's Purrloin

Marnie's Purrloin is a 60 HP Basic Dark Pokemon with one retreat and Grass weakness. For one Dark Energy the Sharp Nail attack does 20 damage. If the opponent's Active Pokemon is a Pokemon ex then Sharp Nail does 60 damage. Not bad for one Dark Energy.

Marnie's Liepard

Marnie's Liepard is the Stage 1 Evolution from Marnie's Purrloin. (Not from any Purrloin) It has one retreat cost, Grass weakness and just one attack. The Sharp Claw attack requires two Dark Energy for 70 base damage. If the opponent's Active Pokemon is a Pokemon ex then the Sharp Claw attack does 140 damage instead.

This Marnie's Liepard alone can be used as a niche counter against the opponent if they play Mew ex, Latias ex or Gardevoir ex (if it is in the metagame post-rotation). All three are weak to Dark type attacks.

Marnie's Scraggy and Scrafty

I don't think Marnie's Scraggy and Marnie's Scrafty are playable. The energy costs for the attack damage is not that great.

Steven's Baltoy

Steven's Baltoy is kind of weak at 60 HP but the Summoning Sign attack is useful in the early game. With Summoning Sign you can search your deck for 2 Basic Steven's Pokemon and put them onto your Bench. (Then shuffle your deck).

Steven's Claydol

Steven's Claydol is the evolved form of Steven's Baltoy. The first attack of Eerie Light does 20 damage plus Confusion. It is okay as you do small damage and Confusion is pretty annoying.

The Clay Blast attack does 220 damage which is one hit knockout power on many Basic Pokemon ex. Its drawback is discarding all Energy from the Pokemon.

Steven's Skarmory

Steven's Skarmory is a Basic Metal Pokemon with 120 HP and one retreat cost. Most Metal Pokemon have Fire weakness but this Skarmory has a Lightning weakness as it is a bird.

The Razor Wing attack is not great at two Colourless Energy for 30 damage. The Sonic Double attack requires two Metal Energy and one Colourless Energy. This attack does 50 damage to 2 of your opponent's Pokemon (Active and/or Benched Pokemon)

With Manaphy out of the format post-rotation and Rabsca is an evolution Bench Barrier Pokemon that does not see much play, Bench hitting attacks such as Sonic Double are useful. Sonic Double's energy cost is costly though.
