Its my birthday this weekend, I decided start the weekend early with some poker. The funny thing about poker is many of the skills used in sales, business and crypto trading are transferable to the poker felts. Its actually why Ive been able to find success in each of those arenas.
One of the most important skills in poker is reading people. If you're able to learn to read people to the point that you almost always know what they, then you can't lose long term. You'll know the right move to make every time. The same is true in sales. If you're able to read the client well, you'll know exactly how to deal with them. Know when to push hard for a close and when to schedule a follow up is the difference between being a superstar or someone who lives paycheck to paycheck. Learn to read people.
Another common skill between top poker players and business people is the time spent studying. I once read that top CEOs read an average of 60 books per year. Many of these high performers invests thousands of dollars in masterminds and seminars. I notice the same trait amongst high level poker players. Many of the winners talk strategy in the online forums day and night. Alot of the guys who frequent the tournament circuit travel in groups of 4-6. These poker crews hold discussions on breaks and after playing. Also, just like business people, top poker players seek out other top players via skype groups. There sre groups of top players who meet up on skype weekly and have poker discussions. Long story shot, top performers invest in themselves.
Lastly, just like trading crypto currency, poker is a numbers game. When trading crypto, obviously you want to buy at what you believe to be a good price and sell at what you believe to be the best price. Even when playing these numbers, the are times when you will go red and doubt yourself. Its up to you to continue playing the numbers confidently until the numbers swing your way again. Poker is very similar. Since its a numbers game, the possibilites of any hand can be broken down to percentages. Winning players almost only play hands when the odds are in their favor. Even playing this strategy, winning players can experience downswings where they lose money. Its up to them to remain confident and play a winning style. The key to winning both these games is playing the odds and keeping your emotions in check.
All of these skills can be used almost anywhere to achieve success. Just figure out how to use them best in the pursuit of your passions. Do them consistently and anything is possible!
