Hey, so just to close out on this, PS responded to my ticket (which, incidentally, did refer to them as idiots since I wasn't in a diplomatic mood) and simply unlocked the account with no explanation.
Incidentally, Coinbase is really eroding my ability to deal with customer service in a civil fashion.
