I want to tell you a story about my friend. This is not a story about money falling from the sky, but about chances taken at the right moment, strategy and, of course, about intuition and luck.
Being an iron broker, my friend have always been really passionate about poker, but never done anything out of ordinary. He used to play online poker. Until one day, when he went in one of the new poker rooms we have in the city. At the time there was a holdem poker challenge, so he just gave it a try.
Nothing exceptional thus far.
The starting fee was 50 euros, but you could win up to 7500
, plus the rebuy. There were 150 people
trying to win this challenge.
He started winning match after match. His strategy was letting others go all in and eliminate themselves. Hour after hour he was changing continuously the tables. When he finally got to the final table, 4 hours had passed. At this moment only 8 players remained.
It’s obviously that nobody wanted to lose, so the stress was very high. My friend also started feeling nervous and he almost lost, when he got a hand of double Q
and went all in. He had no money left so he didn’t have much to lose. 2 called in.
They thought that it was just a bluff and they were right to. On the table were A and K and 2 of them had exactly A and K. You can imagine their trust in this round.
They smiled happily, believing in their win. Surprisingly enough, the last card turned was a Q. A huge luck!
But this is not the way it ends. The game wasn’t over. The game continued with 6, 4, 3, and then finally with 2 players. He was sweating so much! During the last round he had diamond 9 and 8.
The both of them checked. On the flop he already had color, but he chose to only check, letting the other guy make the move. And he really made it, calling ALL IN! The thing is that they both had a hand of color, so the tension was raised a lot more. But finally the final card came to be diamond 10. So he not only had color in his hand, he did a royal flush and he won the entire amount! 7000 from the fee entrances and 1000k from the rebuys.
A poker tournament can make you feel as exhausted as if you’ve worked a whole week, without any break. It’s all about the ups and downs, about keeping your composure and feeling when you have to make your move or let the other player do so.
Special thanks to @diana.catherine for editing and Massi ( my friend ) to share with us story and photos.
Its funny how gamblers always show their wins and attribute it to stradegy but when hey loose is always their luck.
Ehehehhe both is questions of luck! Winning or losing is only luckiness! :)

Amazing story. Winning consistently in poker seems so hard for me.
it is... for this reason I shared this story! :)
I really appreciate your story, i also played online on pokerstarts for about 2 years.. was a nice period with ups and downs but at the end i eded up playing poker.
I was playing too on pokerstar... losing all the time!
Hi, oh that lucky person that always gets the best river card, you love it when it happens to you, but when it happens to an opponent several times in a row... it sucks haha, I lost so much on moments like that (and moments after that, when I was angry haha), I had to stop playing poker.
I think your post is really cool, bringing me some poker stories - never enough of those. I would just like to correct you a bit - color is called flush in the poker world. Royal flush is a colored straight of 10 J Q K A . Your friends straight is called straight flush.
And yes poker tournaments are EXTREMELY exhausting. You basically have to concentrate all the time - that can be 16 hours a day for 4 days in the case of major tournaments. Thanks for this post, brings back memories. (some of the even good) :)
Man in italian we call scala reale and colore... just different way to call or translate :) but thanks you for your corrections 😆
I love poker stories, I was actually wondering if there was room for it here on Steemit :) Thanks for sharing dude!
ahahahha I wish to have a poker room here and play with steem dollars LOL
Congrats, winning tournaments is always fun (and losing them is equally as not fun). But have never made a royal to win one, must have felt even better.
nice post
