King Salman bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia has ordered the creation of a special department in the prosecutor's office to investigate and prosecute corruption cases. "This measure is intended to improve the effectiveness and speed up the process of eradicating corruption," said a statement cited by Attorney General Sheikh Saud al-Mujib.

Saudi authorities arrested hundreds of top businessmen and nobles in November and detained them for several months at the Riyadh Ritz-Carlton in an anti-corruption investigation.

Most of the detainees have been released after completing the financial statements with the government, but several others remain in custody and possibly but on trial.

The government has not released any names still under arrest, as well as accusations against them or plans how the case could be tried.
