The state of the country

in #politics6 years ago

Nigeria is becoming a joke. And the fact that we aren't doing anything to stop it is painful. The country is filled with internet warriors with little or no action offline. An election was conducted some days back, and we knew it would be a big decision to the state of the country in the next four years. It was obvious a larger percentage of us wanted the current president out. But unfortunately, he won with a very large margin. I woke up to this news this morning.

I never imagined 4 million people would vote for Buhari, but the old man won with a four million margin. I'm still wondering how he gathered 15 million votes. One thing is sure, it wasn't a fair election. It was rigged. The chairman of INEC knew this. He was even presented with proofs of bad things that happened during the election, yet he was quick to announce the winner. Our opinions doesn't count anymore. We are afraid to speak out. Well, I'm not blaming anyone though. This is a country where you can be killed and nobody will be reprimanded or jailed for it. The INEC chairman and others in powerful places are the ones that can fight for us, but they aren't fighting. They are supporting what we are opposing. All they care about is what will fill their pockets and more power. I'm sure the president had promised them this.

The results we got from the North were baffling. These places haven't been peaceful for years. Terrorists always raid their places, so lots of them leave their states at the first opportunity they get. Would I vote the president in seat again if I was living in the north? In fact, I wouldn't care to vote for anyone. But they were the ones with the highest accredited voters. Borno state is known as Boko Haram territory. These people have killed lots of their people. Those living there are always scared to come out. I have a friend that once lived there, he told me their population kept reducing everyday. Corpers aren't sent to the state again for NYSC. That's how dangerous the state is. And on the day of election, they said 987,290 came out to vote. 836,496 voted for Buhari. This is an obvious lie and we all knew this.

There was an attack in Yobe state few hours before the election, still it didn't stop millions from coming out to vote for the same man who hasn't done anything to help them in the past four years. Buhari just showed us he can do anything. He will be leaving the presidential seat when he wants to. He's making us believe we can't make him leave. Our opinions doesn't count anymore. Well, we are looking forward to another four years of nonsense. I just hope I'm wrong.
