Good manners and mutual respect is one of the key foundations to western morals and societies in the 21st century
I agree completelly. Unfortunatelly some people don't know how to yet but I hope we can teach without forcing a way of speach that is based on fear.
The thing about the whole 'Nigger' word, is that in certain societies it was used as a derrogatory term which turns it into an insult more than a descriptive word. For example, in Spain it is perfectly fine to say the word 'Paki', no one gets offended even if you use it incorrectly. However, in Britain it is one of the worst words you can use to describe anyone of Pakistanian descendant, the reason being that there is a history behind that word thay means that in certain societies it is converted into an insult or derrogatory description more than just a adjective of origin.
And it is my believe that in these cases, like you mention, with respect and manners these matters will eventually pass and will br a thing of the past.
That being said, I've seen the way people talk like walking on eggshells which is utterly mad. In Britain I've seen it to such extreme that it does indeed affect on political levels where people attack each other for an incorrect use of words where neither party was affected by it (and whoever should be, normally wouldn't be affected anyway). Mad
Every totalitarian regime in the history of mankind started off with banning or limiting a human beings right to freedom of speech.
