Forty-three men in Nigeria were indicted Friday by the Lagos provincial government for "committing homosexual acts and helping them."
Among the defendants were a hotel owner and two of his employees, who are alleged to have encouraged 40 other men to have sex with each other in the hotel, according to the government spokesman.
Following the charges against them, the court ruled that they must "undergo sexual rehabilitation and the introduction of new habits - to prevent homosexual activity." The three defendants who were at the center of the case were not allowed to use legal counsel and were denied the opportunity to present the arguments for their defense.
