Hey everyone, I am very new to steemit and still trying to figure out the very basics. I may technically qualify as a millennial but I certainly do not have many technological qualifications. We are ONN, the Objectivity News Network, and we seek to dive straight down the rabbit hole of news and politics through a staunch, progressive, anti establishment lens. We hope to be posting and interacting here regularly once we figure out how to fully operate, and we look forward with interacting here with this new and growing community!

Welcome to the community, yes we need common sense.
Thanks! looking forward to building a community here!
Do you think attaining objectivity is realistic?
Probably not, but it is our mission to strive to do so. If we remain honest about our biases to ourselves and our audience we believe it is possible to remain impartial on the facts while being opinionated on the issues.
I mean, good luck with it, but those biases can be well hidden, however honest someone is trying to be. And you can only go on the information to hand, and this is affected by the source it comes from. There is no truth, merely shades of grey.
I have to say I disagree with your conclusion. There is a Truth but it is hard to obtain. It is a great advantage to take the media you consume with a healthy dose of skepticism, but to come to the conclusion that there is no accurate reporting to form an opinion on is ludicrous. There are plenty of objective facts out there for us all to learn from.
But who is to say what is "the truth"? What gives someone the right to declare that have arrived at an unimpeachable truth?
I am not sure I have said this. An opinion is fine, but the nature of an opinion means that it cannot be entirely neutral. Yes, there are objective facts, but how we interpret them is subject to interpretation, isn't it? Give me a truth. Tell me something that is undeniably true. I had a great exchange recently about the concept of absolute morality. Does that actually exist?
