FACEBOOK WILL BE CLOSED SOON IN INDONESIA?

At the first, Cambridge Analytica claimed that Facebook data was leaked. But after checked, “leaked” is not right term. That data was not lacked, but the right was abused by Cambridge Analytica, suspected for politic interest.
The data is not about message’s content, but the data that noted in someone profile for public.

Unfortunately, there were many bad issue about this topic, and Indonesia government also called Facebook for asking their explanation. Finally blocking Facebook has occurred.

Rudiantara, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology said, “Facebook data was not leaked. Leaked is something like happened to water pipe, we don’t know where’s the placed, but what happened in this data is compromise the data.”

Until nowadays, people still confused with obscurity information about Facebook decision in Indonesia. They asked, Facebook will be closed soon or not?

Rudiantara confirms that will not block (close) the Facebook permanently, but only temporary if the situation become worse. “We will see the situation first. If become worse, we will close for temporary (block)” He said. Rudiantara reluctant to talk about Facebook closing permanently. He only focus to monitor Facebook in order to create data security and to avoid the dissemination of hate speech.

DPR is also ask Kominfo to be more assertive to Facebook. “Government will discuss and follow up again about this case, and probably there will be punishment” Said Meutya Hafid, Member of Commission I DPR RI.

Meutya predict that DPR RI will be waiting for the result of internal Facebook investigation for next one month. "We will wait, I think one month is enough. We hope this investigation result is not only to know the offender, but also information about where and what for the data using.

Kemkominfo already sent SP 2 for Facebook, but still not information about SP 3 which is closing.

When asked about applied duration from SP 2 to next SP, Rudiantara was not giving definitive answer yet. "It can take one day, a month, we will see the situation first," said Rudiantara.

He told that he didn’t get the explanation yet from Facebook office in Irlandia who take care of Facebook in Indonesia.
Facebook Irlandia gave explanation to Rudiantara, they told about the number of data misuse that user override and Rudiantara with Kominfo will continue to monitor the development of Indonesia user data in Facebook.
