Immigration: A Consistent Concern for Americans

Obama is said to have deported millions of people across his time in office, Bush, Biden, they are all said to have deported millions of people, though some of them might have been voluntary returns and not formal removals.

A lot of attention is being given recently to the raids behind Trump's efforts to engage in the immigration crackdown and the issue is so alarming to members of the public that you might think they were unaware that this has been going on for years under various presidents.

This is an important voting issue that millions of Americans have been concerned with for years, along with the cost of living, healthcare, war, and other worries.

For some voters though it is a top concern for them.

Why are people so passionate about this issue?

Numerous reasons are cited:

  • national identity
  • resource allocation
  • social cohesion
  • environmental impact
  • housing market pressure
  • political influence
  • educational system strain
  • health concerns

The validity of those concerns though is still faced with ongoing debate.

It is an effort that requires a great deal of resources, it has been estimated that hundreds of billions have already been spent on this issue for immigration and border enforcement over the years.

For some of those individuals who have already been dropped off back in their home country, they've suggested that they have might try and just make their way right back.

Might we see other countries start to do the same and follow in these footsteps? It has been reported that several countries are already cracking down, like the UK, Mexico, and other regions. It's an issue that isn't only on the minds of millions of Americans but one that seems to continually strike a cord with millions of voters around the world.

I think immigration is an awesome tool to have in our bag as a nation and I would hope to enhance it as much as possible. That being said, a nation must be permitted to secure its borders. In doing so, immigrants must come in in a legal fashion.

I don't subscribe to the idea that most of those who come in illegally are bad people or commit crimes (beyond the illegal entry) at a higher percentage than most. I also don't think that they abuse the welfare system for the most part. That being said, they still have to go through the wickets or risk deportation.
