The United States has engaged in the war on terror for decades and sent thousands of troops to risk their lives to fight for something that would end up costing trillions. According to one report it seems it has cost some $8 trillion dollars for this endeavor. What some might say was neccessary others might see as a complete waste of lives and resources, turning up fruitless in the end with a conflict that can essentially go on forever.
These days you don't hear much about it in the media any longer, though there are those periods where they will pick back up and obsessively focus on one incident or another to perpetuate fear to billions. Hundreds of thousands of families have been impacted by this bloodshed and chaos. The economic impact this has has in regards to the lost potential due to the incredible loss of life from innocent civilians and others is impossible to assess. Was it all worth it? Was it ever neccessary?
Of course for most they have no idea about the true cost, out of sight and completely out of mind, maybe they wouldn't be supportive of something they knew was costing hundreds of millions of dollars per day overseas when they struggle themselves just to afford basic food and shelter back at home. One thing it seems the U.S. will never consider is a reform to aggressive foreign policy that have allegedly contributed to trillions of dollars in waste and millions of lives lost.
