Yes, you maybe guess that this post is a sort of response to the dollar vigilante article - Putin Prepares for Nuclear War Just Week After Germany Prepares for Attack. This article was actually pretty good and sums up pretty well the current situation of this everlasting 'cold war' between US/Nato and Russia.
That being said, you may have noticed that it has received its fair amount of downvotes.
"Fair" because even if the content was informative and worthwhile, the title and the image chosen by @dollarvigilante to illustrate the article was I think a bit dishonest. Dishonest in the sense that it contributes to instill in the mind of people who won't go beyond headlines that Putin is the root cause of the coming crisis. This can be easily noticed by some annoyed comments of people who seems to react solely based on the title of the article. To make it clear, I'm not a big fan of Putin or any other government or political leaders.
So if I could edit the @dollarvigilante article, I would put this image above of Hillary and the headline of this post :-) That in my opinion is a bit more in line with the current situation. (Yes, I think Hillary will be the next US president. At the political game, the "establishment" always win... until people stop playing and hope to win this game by the rules)
One last thought about Steemit & the information warfare
As Steemit grows, as well as tensions between the upcoming Hillary administration and Russia, I think it will be a very great place to get people's point of views from both side of the table and have open debates between people. Indeed westerner listen to western media and think the media from the other side is propaganda, same goes for russian and asian I guess; moreover while they promise to 'connect the world' the experience of social media like Twitter or Facebook contribute to please our biais rather than open our minds to different and opposite views.
Steemit has the advantages that :
- from the start we have a lot of users from US and from Russia who are mingled within the platform.
- we are confronted with content selected by the community and not only by our follow feed
- and it is worth remembering that you cannot censored content
So while the respective US (/european) and russian medias will try to push their propaganda to their specific audience (aka public opinion) to justify their decisions, Steemit may be the ideal platform where individuals from both continents will have the opportunity to directly confront and build their opinion without the intermediation of mainstream outlets and mainstream social networks. Let's hope Steemit can foster great dialogues rather than diatribes though.

Thanks a lot for reading this article. Sorry if you notice some mistake (not native english speaker here) Don't hesitate to correct me, to comment... and to follow, I'll follow back :-)
That's a good point of view.
I think the post received quite some downvotes because it itself had a lot of propaganda and false information. Like this:
And now, just this week, Russians are being awakened by the deafening noise of emergency war sirens as a simultaneous "military combat readiness check" took place for Russian soldiers from August 25th-31st ...
This is just ridiculous. I am from Russia and my whole family and a lot of friends live there. Of course there are some scheduled military tests which we don't even notice and don't read about. And the story that there is some military alarm that people hear in the cities is just funny to read:)
Peace in the Middle East
Thanks for upvote. 70% back from me as well :-)
