It was a nice sunny summer afternoon in 2003, when I met on the streets of Belgium one of my Syrian acquaintances with a petrified look on his face. He simply told me that he was very worried about his country and that may be a war was coming to Syria...I had no idea of what the situation in Syria was like during that time, but tried to calm him down a bit - I was thinking that people often succumb to their fears and as a result they become more pessimistic. Unfortunately, he turned out to be right and I was wrong - people from Syria probably sensed that something terrible was about to happen in their country.
It's been 7 years already, as you have pointed out and it's still ongoing. Attempts to reach peace had been made, but so far in vain. Hopefully, this war finally ends, so that people in Syria live in peace and rebuild their country. And I hope all my Syrian acquaintances, whose traces I lost right after leaving Belgium, are all fine, as much as one could be fine in such circumstances.
Thanks for support and great comment..
Wish you a great weekend..
Thank you! Have a great weekend as well!
I feel sad when I see humans fighting with each other for not so important reasons, and killing is even worst!! What can be more important then someone's life :(
I try my best to share love, peace, wisdom and truth with everyone through my poems and articles. I can't change Syria or the world, but I can change a few people and that's enough. If everyone would try to change and help a few people, it would totally change the world.
It is so sad to see people torn away from their comfortable homes and daily lives due to war between leaders. You have my upvote, thank you for spreading awareness.
War is death of civilization and it should be stopped, because war only destroys and it takes several years to rebuild new civilization.may God bless the victims..
Very sad about innocent 12 million Syrians..

Shocking! Thanks for sharing the war situation of Syria. It used to be a beautiful and peaceful country. I feel sad. Hope more people see this post.
Good post, very informative, I think its very sad that humans kill each other, hopefully one day we can reach a peace agreement and leave behind the arrogance and evil... Imagine all the people living life in peace:'(
Where is it end!?How much more time suffer people? Nobody knows this. But i want see this end.God save them
It can't be described in words. It is very difficult for us to even think of those 12 million helpless Syrians who have lost everything. I am so easily writing a comment here seeing this article but in reality, I am even more helpless to not have been able to do.
Its very heart wrenching to see peoples fighting with each other. It seems to me that war is all about perceived conflicting needs. We are all taught that life is about winners and losers.
This is happening all over the globe with politicians, military people, intelligence agencies., etc...
